GOOD PIECES DESERVE GOOD CARE.

Vintage has already lived a life before finding its way to you and with the right care, there’s no reason it can’t live many more.

At Ronnies, we select pieces not only for the way they look, but also for their quality, materials and how they feel. We have a soft spot for genuine leather, wool, suede, cotton and other materials that are made to last and often become even better with time.

Because every vintage piece is different, there isn’t one care routine that works for everything. Here are a few simple ways to keep your Ronnies finds looking their best.

LEATHER

Good leather is made to age. Over time it can soften, develop a natural patina and show more character; exactly what we love about vintage.

Avoid washing leather and keep it away from excessive moisture and heat. For cleaning or conditioning, always use products specifically made for genuine leather and test them on a small, less visible area first.

When in doubt, we recommend taking your piece to a professional leather cleaner.

SUEDE

Suede needs a little extra love. Keep it away from water where possible and use a soft suede brush to gently remove dust and refresh the texture.

For stains or deeper cleaning, we recommend professional cleaning rather than experimenting at home.

WOOL & KNITWEAR

Wool doesn’t need to be washed after every wear. Often, simply airing your piece is enough to freshen it up.

And those little balls that sometimes appear on wool? Completely normal. A fabric comb or gentle wool shaver can help keep your knit looking fresh.

COTTON & EVERYDAY PIECES

For cotton, sweatshirts, T-shirts and other everyday pieces, always follow the original care label where available.

We generally recommend washing only when needed, at a lower temperature and with similar colours. Turning garments inside out before washing can also help protect prints, colours and details.

BAGS & ACCESSORIES

Vintage bags and accessories can be made from all kinds of materials, so care will depend on the individual piece.

Avoid overfilling bags, as this can put unnecessary pressure on handles, straps and seams. When you’re not using them, store bags in a dry place and give them enough room to keep their shape.

For leather and suede pieces, follow the same care advice as above.

SHOES

Give your vintage shoes a little rest between wears and store them somewhere dry and well ventilated.

Leather can be conditioned with a suitable leather product, while suede is best maintained with a suede brush. We always recommend having repairs such as soles, heels or more delicate restoration done by a professional shoemaker.

A little maintenance can give a great vintage pair many more years of wear.

REMEMBER, IT’S VINTAGE

Small signs of wear, variations in texture, fading and other traces of a previous life can naturally be part of vintage clothing and accessories.

Every Ronnies piece is individually checked before being listed, and any noticeable imperfections will be mentioned or shown wherever possible.

We see these signs of age as part of what makes each piece different, not something that needs to be completely erased.
